I believe what we all hate the most during the summer is the dreaded mosquito. Nothing seems to totally stop them from attacking. Even with prevention some of them still get through our defenses. And the main problem is that a bite (or multiple ones) can leave you bumpy, itchy, and cranky for days!

Below are a few things that you might not have thought of that might ease the symptoms from mosquito bites:

-Ice Pack - this helps reduce the inflammation and numbs the skin. Only leave it on for a few minutes at a time since it can damage your skin if left on too long.

-Aloe Vera - has a gel in it that has anti-inflammatory properties. Apply it to the irritated area and let it dry. Use more as needed.

-Oatmeal - has compounds that have anti-irritant qualities. Simply mix equal parts of oatmeal and water to make a paste and put it on the irritated area for 10 minutes.

-Calamine Lotion - can help relieve the itch.

-Hydrocortisone Lotion - can also help with the itch.

-Honey - has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Place a few drops on the infected area to decrease inflammation.

Of course authorities always say to wear protective clothing like long pants and long sleeves and to avoid being outside during dawn and dusk when it's mosquito feeding time.

I don't know about your area, but by us it seems like our mosquitos haven't heard that they are restricted to certain times of day to eat because ours are hungry all the time!
